Saudi to crucify man arrested when he was 17
"Saudi Arabia has dismissed the final appeal of a juvenile prisoner set to be crucified. Ali Mohammed Al-Nimr was arrested aged 17 after participating in anti-government protests in 2012. He was accused of protesting illegally and being in possession of firearms.
Ali was initially held at a juvenile offenders’ facility. Reports indicate that he was tortured and signed a confession under duress. The appeal was held in secret and dismissed, with no remaining legal routes of objection to his sentence of "death by crucifixion", initially handed down on 27 May 2014."

US Drone Strikes Kill More Yemeni Civilians than al-Qaida: UN
"The United States may be directly responsible for more civilian deaths in Yemen than al-Qaida over the past year, according to a grim United Nations report released Wednesday.
As many as 40 Yemeni civilians are believed to have been killed by U.S. drone strikes in the war-torn nation over the past 12 months, the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) concluded in its latest report.
"OHCHR received reliable information indicating that as many as 40 civilians, including a child, may have been killed during the period under review as a result of drone attacks in Al-Baida, Al-Jawf, Marib and Shabwah," the report stated.
Vice News pointed out in the same report, that the OHCHR noted al-Qaida has claimed responsibility for the deaths of around 24 civilians – just over half the number the United States is accused of killing.
Overall, more than 1,500 civilians are estimated to have been killed in Yemen's civil war. Along with fighting between rival Yemeni factions, the country is also facing an intervention led by its neighbor, Saudi Arabia."

Israel calls Iceland capital's boycott 'pure hatred'
"Israel has lashed out at a boycott of its products by the Icelandic capital's city council over the occupation of Palestinian territory, describing it as a "volcano of hatred".
Reykjavik's council on Tuesday approved a motion to halt the city's purchase of Israeli products until the occupation ends.

Japanese parliament descends into violence over bill to allow troops to fight abroad

But the Japanese parliament descended into violence today during a debate over a bill that would allow the military to fight overseas for the first time in decades.
The bill in question proposes that the military, or self-defence forces as they are known in the country, have the option to fight abroad to defend the interests of its allies even if there is no direct threat to Japan.
The decades-old policy was instituted by American occupiers."

Which brings us to our post from Monday in which "anonymous" US officials told Reuters that "Russia has positioned about a half dozen tanks at a Syrian airfield where it has been steadily building up defenses" with Reuters adding that "one of the U.S. officials said seven Russian T-90 tanks were seen at the airfield near Latakia, a stronghold of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
